From communication, budgets, repair processes, and more you will leave with incredibly powerful insight on the planning process and best practices from successful districts from all over the United States.

The technology landscape in education is constantly evolving. New devices, software, and applications are introduced all the time, and it can be challenging to keep up with the latest trends. However, by carefully planning for the long term, educators can ensure that their schools are well-positioned to take advantage of new technologies. This session will explore the key elements of lifecycle planning for technology in education. We will discuss topics such as: - Device management: How to effectively manage a fleet of devices, including tracking inventory, deploying software, and troubleshooting problems. - Warranty/repair: How to set up a system for repairing and maintaining technology devices, including working with vendors and managing repairs. - Roadmaps: How to develop a long-term plan for technology, including setting goals, identifying resources, and tracking progress. - Classroom solutions: How to choose the right technology for each classroom, including considering the needs of students, teachers, and the curriculum. - Lifecycle planning: How to integrate technology into the curriculum over time, including using technology to support instruction, assessment, and collaboration at different stages of the learning process. - Professional development: How to provide teachers with the training they need to use technology effectively, including providing training on specific tools and on how to integrate technology into the curriculum. This session is for anyone who is involved in the planning or implementation of technology in education. School administrators, teachers, technology coordinators, and parents will all benefit from the insights shared in this session. By the end of this session, participants will be able to: - Understand the key elements of a successful technology plan for lifecycle planning. - Develop a realistic budget for a technology plan for lifecycle planning. - Set up a system for repairing and maintaining technology devices for lifecycle planning. - Share best practices from successful districts for lifecycle planning. - Identify emerging technologies that will have an impact on education for lifecycle planning. - Understand the role of technology in personalized learning for lifecycle planning. - Discuss the impact of technology on equity for lifecycle planning. The session will be a mix of presentations, discussions, and group activities. Participants will have the opportunity to share their own experiences and ideas. Iron County Schools and MyVideoSpot – Pushing Innovation and Integration
Thursday June 12, 2025 8:30am - 9:30am MDT
This session will explore MyVideoSpot’s SaaS solution for video management, how it is being used at Iron County Schools, and their push that led to the integration with UETN’s IVC system.

Teachers at Iron County Schools have been using the MyVideoSpot platform for the last two years, utilizing the built in tools for uploading instructional videos, creating video and screen recordings, safely sharing videos from external platforms such as YouTube and Vimeo, and then sharing those videos with their students via the provided Canvas integration. In addition to looking at the platform, we will look at the instrumental role that Iron County played with the integration of MyVideoSpot and UETN’s IVC system. As Iron County utilizes the IVC system for their instructor led courses, they wanted a simplified solution where the recorded courses from the IVC system were automatically populated into the district’s MyVideoSpot platform. We’ll take a closer look at this integrated solution, which now gives all of the teachers at Iron County easy access to the IVC video recordings for the courses their students are taking.

Unleashing to power of 5G for the Utah Education and Telehealth Networks
Thursday June 12, 2025 8:30am - 9:30am MDT
The presentation will cover: What are the 5G benefits? Low latency, high throughput, Spectrum, RAN architecture choices, Core Network choices, and local breakout scenarios.

This will be a tutorial to teach the audience basic RF concepts, from coverage and capacity, the tradeoff between 4G and 5G (and why 5G?), and how 5G improves latency and throughput. Then, we focus on the connection between use cases, devices, spectrum strategy, and how that drives the overall network strategy. We delve into the intricacies of various RAN architectures that maximize coverage and capacity while optimizing Capex and Opex. Similarly, we take a look at different core network scenarios. After teaching the audience how to architect a 5G network, we dive into the day-to-day operational requirements. what should we measure while rolling out the network and once we are in an operational state, how we should Design-> Implement -> Measure -> Optimize (in a cyclical manner).

Keeping our kids safe at school: What does implementing Utah School Safety HB 84 (Alyssa's Law) look like?
Thursday June 12, 2025 9:45am - 10:45am MDT
My kids go to school here, and I want them to be safe. HB 84 recently passed into law, but what does this actually look like? This session discuss the components needed to make it work. We can also talk about how it's working in other states that have implemented similar bills.

We will discuss the important parts of this bill and what is required from their teams to actually put it into action. First, we will talk about the "button" that activates the emergency response and notification systems. Then, we will address the notification systems and how to communicate with the teams who receive the notifications. Lastly, we will cover the connectivity and how we can ensure that the "button" functions properly. Additionally, we will include bonus content on other systems such as cameras, badge access, and AI integration that can assist in providing preemptive notifications. Our use case will show how Singlewire, Cisco and Kontakt.io is working together to provide this for existing school districts.

Attacks against infrastructure have increased drastically in recent years, meaning securing the Wi-Fi network of schools and universities is more important now than ever. In this session, Julio Petrovitch, product manager at NetAlly, will educate the audience on how to validate Wi-Fi network security using a CyberScope Air. This session will provide practical hands-on guidance on best practices for Wi-Fi network security validation, including: - How to test for the presence or use of Wi-Fi Protected Management Frames (PMF) and/or WPA3 on secured networks - How to test and report on which networks and endpoints are using less secure WPA2-Personal - How to test for intra-SSID and/or inter-SSID access to ensure isolation is enabled - How to test for the presence of zero config networks, mDNS, Bonjour, etc. and ensure its operating as planned if enabled - How to test if managed/secured endpoints are beaconing/leaking information such as secured Wi-Fi network names, which opens an endpoint to man in the middle (MitM) or on-path attacks Once part of NETSCOUT Systems, NetAlly is now an independent company focused on developing Wi-Fi and Ethernet solutions designed to help with deployment, validation, troubleshooting, and cybersecurity. You own some NetAlly or NETSCOUT handheld tools? Feel free to bring them to the session and ask questions!
