Git is a really useful tool (with benefits including change tracking, well-organized collaboration, and automatic backups), but maybe you're nervous about hosting your code using a commercial source code management service. Come see how easy it is to set up a private Git server (fewer steps than you might think)!  Having even one character out of place in the code of a script, query, or program can cause it to not run, so little changes can be really important, but having to create and name a backup, and then copy it to a server every time you make a change can become a burden!
