Measuring Private Cellular Networks
Thursday June 12, 2025 8:30am - 9:30am MDT
In the Wifi world, we have a ton of tools for measuring where signal is available. Private Cellular on the other hand has carrier grade tools that cost as expected. More options are starting to hit the market. We are going to dig into some of those tools and some custom built in house tools for learning how to measure our Private LTE network.

Brad, Scott, and Chris have access to the Carrier grade tools, IBFlex and PCTel. We will talk about those tools, and lessons learned from an Ibwave Proof of Concept. I will also discuss some of the custom tools that I have been building as a sensor that can be installed at a site for monitoring the network.

Wi-Fi Fundamentals Workshop
Thursday June 12, 2025 8:30am - 10:45am MDT
In this session I will cover the fundamentals of Wi-Fi and the proper ways to define, design, deploy and validate wireless networks. This class prepares attendees in the discussions with stakeholders about the designs and installations today that will make their Wi-Fi networks future-proof avoiding being obsolete upon deployment. Wireless connectivity using Wi-Fi is the most used method to connect to local resources and the Internet. Wi-Fi is a technology that has revolutionized the way we connect devices in healthcare, education, hospitality, outdoors, industrial environments, ships, and even in outer space. Basic knowledge of Wi-Fi operations will enable attendees to better serve their customers and to provide an exceptional user experience, reducing service calls, and efficiently enjoying fast speeds available in our networks today.

Come join me for a fun session where we will not only learn the complexities of this beloved technology, but will also learn about the tools needed for proper designing and troubleshooting Wi-Fi networks. We will share Murray High School survey data that will put your recently acquired knowledge to use as we analyze data, identify inefficiencies, and make recommendations for a better performing network.

Networking in the Middle of Nowhere: Earthquake Monitoring in Utah and Beyond
Thursday June 12, 2025 1:15pm - 2:15pm MDT
Earthquake monitoring requires sensitive instrument located in quiet locations and robust communications for 24x7 monitoring, but these locations are often away from traditional networks so we've developed alternative radio communications.

Breakout session to mesh with the associated keynote presentation. A chance to ask questions and go into more detail about our remote, non-traditional network. We'll look at how we've leveraged SCADA-type radios for continuous telemetry and the associated quirks we've encountered.
